  1. Italicize titles of newspapers, books, plays, films, magazines, and other full-length works of art
    1. The class read Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, along with a commentary about it from the Washington Post.
  2. Words may be underlined or italicized for emphasis only in editorial pieces. This emphasis should be consistent across all the editorials in the issue (ie. use underlining in all, or italics in all, not a mixture of the two throughout)
  3. Italicize words when they are referred to as words or terms
    1. The basketball player was offended by the word jock.
